The Orewa Arts & Events Centre is a modern facility that will cater for a wide variety of functions, celebrations, and meetings. It has the largest capacity of any venue in the Rodney District and with the large flat floor space , operable walls and moveable seating some of which is tiered, it has tremendous flexibility to meet the needs of a wide variety of uses and users. Built by the College with assistance from community funding, the venue has a Board of Control separate from the College and is being promoted for commercial and community use outside school hours (evenings, weekends, public and school holidays).
Key features include:
- A large venue with 530sqm of flat floor space.
- Seating capacity of up to 800 for school assemblies or 600 for public performances.
- Seating capacity for up to 350 for sit down dinners.
- Through the use of operable doors is capable of division into 3 smaller areas.
- Has retractable and portable tiered seating allowing a variety of set up options.
- Has a permanent raised stage.
- Linked with the college Music Suite to provide warm up and technical support areas for musicians.
- Linked to the college Drama Suite to provide extensive changing rooms and green room facilities for performances.
- Incorporates a separate dance studio.
- Incorporates a kitchen with finishing facilities to cater for major functions.
- Has a ceiling height throughout of 5 metres.
- Incorporates modern sound, lighting and projector capabilities.
- Provides an impressive modern and welcoming frontage for those visiting and attending events at the facility.
