If you are planning a social gathering in the Orewa Arts and Events Centre and access to the public is not restricted, then a special licence for sale and supply of alcohol must be obtained.
If you are holding a genuine private social gathering in the Orewa Arts and Events Centre and you are supplying liquor to your guests, as long as the public is not able to access the event a special licence may not be required.
Please note, the special licence holder must control the liquor at the event and ensure statutory responsibilities are observed. This cannot be achieved if guests bring their own liquor and therefore you can’t get a Special Licence for BYO. Accordingly we may not permit BYO functions. Please talk to us about your function if you want to have BYO.
Please visit the
Auckland Council Liquor Licencing website page for information about or information about a Special Licence (the type of Licence you will need) and to locate the application form.
Alternatively if you are hiring a bar service provider, they will often do this for you.
